A private online screening room

Show your film to the people who matter — without sending them the file.

Lodge is a private online screening room for producers, directors and studios. Choose the scenes, name the viewers, set the time. They watch in their browser, every screen carries their name, and when it’s over there is nothing left to leak.

How a cut gets shared today

A Drive link. A WhatsApp file. A pen drive.

Or a booked preview theatre and six people’s diaries. For a film nobody minds sharing, the free tools are the right answer — we are not going to pretend otherwise.

But every one of them puts the whole film in someone else’s hands. From that moment there is no end time, no way to send one song instead of three hours, and no answer to “who else has seen this?” beyond your own memory.

They never had the file.
You cannot un-send a file. Lodge never sends one — your viewers watch a stream of the part you chose, and then it stops existing.
Three steps

How it works

01

Choose what they see

A song, a scene, the first act or the whole film — you mark the start and the end. Lodge makes a clip of exactly that part. The rest of your film never goes anywhere.

02

Invite people by name

Each person gets an email and opens it in the browser they already have. No app to install, no account to make. You agree a time together.

03

Watch together, then it’s gone

Everyone watches at the agreed time and you can pause the whole room at once for notes. Every screen carries that viewer’s name. When you say it ends, it ends — and a week later the clip is deleted.

After the screening

Proof of who saw what

When the room closes, Lodge writes a screening report: who was invited, who accepted, exactly which minutes were shown, when each person joined and left, how much they actually watched, and the moment every way back to the film was shut.

Print it or keep the file. It is the thing you forward when someone asks what happened — and the reason the answer takes a minute rather than a week. Lawyers call it a chain-of-custody record.

The report also says what it cannot prove — including that playback was not DRM-protected. A document that overclaims is worse than none, because someone relies on it.

Lodge next to the tools you already have

Those tools are good at what they are for, which is moving files. Lodge is for the handful of screenings where a leak would cost far more than the fee.

What Lodge does not do

Said once, plainly

No DRM today

Protection is the chosen-part-only clip, the door code, the name on every screen and access that ends on time. DRM can be arranged for a studio engagement.

Bring your own call

There is no chat or voice in the room. Talk on the call you already use — Lodge holds the film and pauses everyone on the same frame.

Invite-only for now

No checkout yet. Access starts with a conversation and an invoice, while we run the first rooms ourselves.

Questions people ask first

FAQ

Does my guest need to install anything?
No. A browser and the email address you invited — that is the whole requirement. There is no app and no account for them to make.
Can they download it or forward it?
There is nothing to download: the picture is streamed, and only the part you chose was ever made available. The link on its own opens nothing — entry needs a six-digit code sent to the invited person’s inbox, so a forwarded link is useless to whoever receives it.
What if someone records their screen with a phone?
Nothing can fully stop a camera pointed at a screen — not Lodge, and not DRM either. What Lodge does is put a visible mark tied to that viewer on every screen, and tell them so. A recording points to one person, and people behave differently when they know their name is on it. How custody works →
Can I show just one song or one scene?
Yes. You mark the exact start and end — seven minutes of a three-hour film is a normal screening. Only that part is made into the clip they watch.
Does it work on a phone?
A guest can open their room in a phone’s browser and it will play; Lodge checks the screen first and suggests a larger one, because a laptop does a film more justice. Setting up a screening is done from a computer.
Is it DRM-protected?
Not today, and we say so on the page rather than in a contract. Protection here is the clip that contains only what you chose, the code at the door, the name on every screen, access that ends on time, and the report. DRM can be arranged for a studio engagement that needs it. See Studio →
Where is my film kept, and when is it deleted?
Your full film stays in your account until you delete it — that is your decision, not ours. Each screening’s clip is deleted automatically seven days after the room closes.
What does it cost?
$99 for one screening, or $199 a month for four films. Unlimited viewers either way — you are never charged for inviting one more person. Pricing →

Tell us what you’re showing.

Lodge is invite-only while we run the first rooms. Tell us what you need to show and to whom. A person replies, usually within a working day — and if it is a fit, you sit in on a screening before you decide anything.
